WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 19, 2011) — The Women's Leadership & Mentoring Alliance (WLMA), is pleased to announce that Andrea Tecce as been awarded the prestigious, first-annual “Woman of the Year Award” by the WLMA.

A Managing Director of Navigant Consulting and Member of the Board of Advisors for WLMA, Ms. Tecce was recognized during WLMA’s Third Quarter D.C. event on September 14, 2011 at the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum, which was attended by more than 140 women from Washington D.C.’s professional community in support of women in leadership and the importance of mentoring throughout women’s personal and professional journeys.

Ms. Tecce was honored with the “Woman of the Year Award” to acknowledge her role as one of a select few female leaders who have a powerful impact on advancing women to leadership positions and providing education, advice and invaluable support to women in all stages of their professional journey.  In winning the award, which bears the likeness of Wilma Flintstone, Ms. Tecce was acknowledged as a role model for all professional women given her tireless efforts and unbridled enthusiasm towards this important goal.

“I want to congratulate Andrea on this fantastic achievement on behalf of everyone at the WLMA,” said Andie Kramer, Founder of WLMA and a partner at the law firm McDermott Will & Emery. “Andrea is extraordinarily focused, she is a problem solver, she is an inspirational leader, and her vision has allowed WLMA to reach out to women beyond Chicago spanning New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. I am proud to know Andrea, to work with her to reach more women, and present her with this hard earned, first annual “Woman of the Year Award."

In winning the 2011 WLMA “Woman of the Year Award,” the WLMA community also recognized Ms. Tecce as being a driving force in bringing together several leading women’s organizations in the D.C. area such as the Women’s Council on Energy and Environment, Women in Government Relations, Sewall-Belmont House & Museum and the White House Project for joint events.  Ms. Tecce’s efforts span across industries and professions evidenced by her invaluable assistance early in 2011 to assist in the launch of the new D.C. Chapter of Women Association in Venture and Equity (WAVE).

“Andrea’s passion for mentoring women is recognized by all who have had the pleasure of working with her,” said Julie Howard, President and COO of Navigant. “Her own professional development journey has made her a true believer in the cause of enabling women to reach their career potential. Her dedication for its cause, as well as women’s issues in general, makes her and outstanding advocate truly worthy of this acknowledgment.”

Ms. Howard went on to add, “Andrea’s support for causes similar to WLMA has also positively impacted Navigant, where she serves as the Chair of our Diversity & Inclusion Committee. In this role, Andrea extends her commitment beyond women’s issues to other areas of inclusion including ethnicity and sexual orientation – spearheading efforts to bring together individuals with like backgrounds to form comparable networking and professional development opportunities. She is well deserving of the “Woman of the Year Award” recognition, and on behalf of the founders of WLMA, as well as Navigant, we look forward to celebrating her future successes."

Ms. Tecce has been a consultant at Navigant for more than nineteen years, and in August 2010 was also named Navigant’s Chair of Diversity & Inclusion.  She has been instrumental within Navigant in mentoring and developing others and outside of Navigant through her contributions to the White House Project, Washington Area Women’s Foundation, Woman’s Bar Association and WLMA.  Ms. Tecce provides accounting and financial services to various companies and their legal counsel on a variety of complex litigation matters and merger and acquisitions.  Her engagements have included estimation of liabilities, insurance coverage issues, allocation methodologies, statistical sampling, claims analysis, and damages calculations.
